Report: Long Beach High School Student Wounded in Shooting

LONG BEACH (CNS) – A high school student was wounded in a shooting Thursday in Long Beach, according to a media report.

The student, who attends Long Beach Polytechnic High School, was shot just after 8 a.m. at the intersection of Long Beach Boulevard and 17th Street and then made it to the school before being taken to a hospital, a Long Beach Unified School District spokeswoman told the Long Beach Post.

The school, at 1600 Atlantic Avenue, is two blocks away from the shooting location.

School staff rendered first aid to the student before he was transported, according to the Post.

The school was not placed on lockdown,

Neither the district nor the Long Beach Police Department released additional details when contacted by City News Service.
