Several organizations are stepping up to provide relief for musicians impacted by the devastating wildfires in Los Angeles. Guitar Center is offering one-time grants to replace instruments and gear lost in the fires. Musicians and music programs in the LA area can apply for up to $1,500 worth of replacements through February 28, 2025. Proof of loss or address may be required, according to the Guitar Center Foundation.
In addition, the Recording Academy’s MusiCares is offering financial assistance to music industry professionals. MusiCares provides $1,500 in financial aid and a $500 grocery card to those affected. This support is available to music professionals with five years of employment or credit on six commercially released recordings. More information can be found on the Billboard website.
Other organizations, such as the Entertainment Community Fund and Sweet Relief Musicians Fund, are also offering financial assistance and resources to those in need. The Entertainment Community Fund provides emergency financial aid for basic living expenses, while Sweet Relief Musicians Fund has launched a natural disaster relief fund for those affected in Los Angeles County.
These efforts come as the wildfires have displaced nearly 180,000 residents and caused extensive damage to property, including those belonging to individuals in the music industry. The relief initiatives aim to help musicians recover and rebuild in the aftermath of the fires.
