Protests Planned Across L.A. After U.S. Strikes on Iran Escalate Tensions

Protests are planned across Los Angeles on Saturday following overnight U.S. military strikes on Iran that have sharply escalated tensions in the Middle East.

The United States joined Israel in coordinated strikes early Saturday targeting sites tied to Iran’s leadership and military infrastructure. President Donald Trump called the operation “massive and ongoing,” warning American casualties are possible and urging Iranians to rise up against their government.

Iran has reportedly launched retaliatory strikes toward Israel and U.S. interests in the region. Several U.S. embassies across the Middle East have issued shelter-in-place advisories amid heightened security concerns.

Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass said city officials are closely monitoring the situation and taking precautionary steps locally. While there are no known credible threats to Los Angeles, the LAPD has increased patrols near places of worship, community gathering spaces and other sensitive locations.

Bass is urging Angelenos to demonstrate peacefully as rallies are expected throughout the day.
