Probe Continues into Silverlake Residential Balcony Collapse

LOS ANGELES (CNS) – The investigation is continuing Monday into the late night collapse of a balcony in the Silverlake neighborhood that left at least one person injured.

Residents of the building were told by the Department of Building and Safety that recent heavy rains led to a structural compromise, according to a KTLA5 report.

It was reported at 11:20 p.m. Saturday in the 800 block of Robinson Street, near Marathon Street, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

Video from the scene showed the upper-level balcony collapsed onto a lower deck at the rear of the residence, further damaging structures below it.

A  woman was transported to a hospital for minor injuries, while three other residents declined medical treatment, authorities said.

A pet dog was also uninjured.

Initial reports said two people were injured, but only one person was transported to a hospital.
