Previously Deported Man Charged In 2nd Charlotte Light Rail Stabbing Attack

A violent stabbing occurred on a Charlotte, North Carolina, light rail on Friday (December 5), leading to the arrest of Oscar Solarzano, a 33-year-old illegal immigrant who had previously been deported. Solarzano faces multiple charges, including attempted first-degree murder, assault with a deadly weapon with serious injury, and carrying a concealed weapon, according to court records obtained by Fox News.

The incident took place around 4:49 p.m. on the CATS Blue Line, where officers found the victim, Kenyon Kareem-Shemar Dobie, with a stab wound. Dobie was transported to the hospital in critical but stable condition. Solarzano allegedly broke into a railroad car and, while intoxicated, challenged Dobie to a fight. He was apprehended shortly after the attack.

Solarzano’s immigration status has sparked controversy, with President Donald Trump commenting on Truth Social, criticizing Charlotte’s handling of illegal immigration. Solarzano is being held without bond and will be released into Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) custody after his court appearance on Monday (December 8).

The stabbing comes months after another fatal attack on the same light rail line, raising concerns about safety and immigration policies in Charlotte. Local leaders, including Governor Josh Stein, have been in contact with law enforcement to address the situation.
