President Donald Trump Provides Update On Iran In Address To Nation

President Donald Trump delivered his first nationally televised address since the start of the U.S.-Israel war against Iran on Wednesday (April 1), speaking from the Cross Hall of the White House to update Americans on the progress of the conflict, now one month old.

Trump said the joint U.S.-Israel military campaign, known as Operation Epic Fury, has dealt severe blows to Iran’s military capabilities. “Their ability to launch missiles and drones is dramatically curtailed, and their weapons factories and rocket launchers are being blown to pieces,” the president said. He added that Iran’s “navy is gone, their air force is in ruins,” and that the country’s leaders “are now dead.”

Trump also told the nation that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) “is being decimated as we speak.”

Trump also said that Iran is now “incapable” of developing a nuclear weapon — one of his stated primary goals for entering the war.

“For these terrorists to have nuclear weapons would be an intolerable threat,” he said. “The most violent and thuggish regime on Earth would be free to carry out their campaigns of terror, coercion, conquest and mass murder from behind a nuclear shield.”

He was particularly critical of the nuclear deal struck under former President Barack Obama, saying, “His Iran deal would have led to a colossal arsenal of massive nuclear weapons for Iran.”

Trump said he expects to conflict to last a few more weeks.

“I’ve made clear from the beginning of Operation Epic Fury that we will continue until our objectives are fully achieved. Thanks to the progress we’ve made, I can say tonight that we are on track to complete all of America’s military objectives shortly, very shortly,” Trump said.

“We’re going to hit them extremely hard. Over the next two to three weeks, we’re going to bring them back to the Stone Age, where they belong. In the meantime, discussions are ongoing,” Trump added.
