A pregnant 16-year-old girl was fatally run over by a 19-year-old man she confronted over allegedly sexually abusing her underage sister, the Riverside Police Department announced in a post shared on its Facebook account.
Isaac Blackhorse Garcia was arrested on charges of murder, hit-and-run resulting in death and two counts of illegal sex with a minor, according to the department. Kaylie Corona, who was reportedly “looking forward to becoming a mother,” was fatally struck after attempting to confront Garcia over “an inappropriate sexual relationship” with her 15-year-old sister, the department wrote.
“When he dropped the sister off at home, family members approached his vehicle. BlackhorseGarcia then sped away, striking the victim with his car,” the department said, confirming there was doorbell camera footage capturing the family’s horrified screams after Corona was truck by the vehicle.
The 16-year-old was rushed to a local hospital where she eventually succumbed to her injuries, however, doctors were able to deliver her child, whom the family named Elena and is reported to be in critical condition. Garcia fled the scene but was later arrested.
“Detectives believe there may be other minors whom Isaac Blackhorse Garcia contacted and sexually abused,” Riverside police said.
Corona was described by her family as “eagerly looking forward to becoming a mother and meeting her baby” in a GoFundMe account launched to help the family pay for funeral expenses.
“Our girl was more than just a teenager — she was a radiant light in our lives. She was a caring, loving, and joyful soul whose presence touched everyone she met,” the family wrote. “She had so many dreams, so many moments ahead of her, and in the blink of an eye, all of that was stolen.”
