Popular Chocolate Bar Recall Expanded Amid Risk Of ‘Fatal Infections’

A nationwide recall of a popular specialty chocolate bar has been extended amid a risk of “fatal infections.”

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration confirmed that Spring & Mulberry updated its press release of its voluntary recall due to a potential salmonella contamination to include additional flavors along with Mint Leaf, which was initially the lone flavor included in the recall earlier this month. The full list of flavors included in the recall is listed below:

  • Earl Grey (#025258)
  • Lavender Rose (#025259, #025260)
  • Mango Chili (#025283)
  • Mint Leaf (#025255)
  • Mixed Berry (#025275, #025281, #025337)
  • Mulberry Fennel (#025345)
  • Pecan Date (#025261, #025265, #025267, #025268, #025339, #025343)
  • Pure Dark Minis (#025273)

The USDA said there still haven’t been any confirmed illness or adverse health effects reported in connection with the recalled items. The possible contamination was initially noted after a routine third-party testing conducted by Spring & Mublerry’s contract manufacturer.

Salmonella commonly results in several symptoms including fever, stomach cramps, diarrhea, nausea and vomiting, and poses a greater risks to infants, older adults and people with weakened immune systems.

Customers who purchased the recalled chocolate bars were advised to throw them away and request a refund by contacting Spring & Mulberry at recalls@springandmulberry.com and providing a photo showing the lot code. Consumers can also request more information and assistance by contacting Spring & Mulberry Customer Service at the same recall email address.
