Police Swarm Beach As Massive Party For ‘Senior Cut Day’ Turns Violent

A peaceful day at Jones Beach in Wantagh, New York, turned chaotic when around 500 teenagers gathered for “Senior Cut Day” on Friday (June 6). The event, which was promoted on social media, quickly escalated into disorder, prompting police intervention to break up multiple fights among the teens.

The Nassau County Police Department responded by restricting access to other areas of the beach to prevent further violence. Despite the chaos, no serious injuries were reported, although one individual was arrested for disorderly conduct and menacing.

Witnesses expressed their shock at the scene, with one person noting, “The beach was never like this. We came here as kids—it was so calm. But now it’s just crazy.”

The incident highlights the challenges of managing large, unsanctioned gatherings organized through social media. As the summer season continues, local authorities may need to consider additional measures to maintain safety and order at popular public venues.
