Police in Virginia responded to a “barricade incident” outside of the CIA’s headquarters on Wednesday (March 19) morning. The Fairfax County Police said that several roads have been closed, and the agency’s Special Operations Division has been dispatched to the scene to assist.
According to a report from WJLA, an armed man was seen near the main gate and making threats against the CIA. He reportedly pulled out his gun and pointed it at the building. WUSA reported that the man was suffering a mental health crisis.
There have been no reports of shots fired or injuries.
Local news media reports a massive law enforcement presence, which includes units from the Arlington and Fairfax County police and fire departments, a SWAT team, and the bomb squad. The CIA is leading the response to the incident, while the SWAT team is assisting.
