Police Looking For Three Men After Sleeping Man Is Set On Fire

A 37-year-old man was set on fire as he slept inside Manhattan’s Penn Station Monday (March 3) evening, and New York City police are now searching for three suspects connected to the attack.

According to the New York City Police Department, three men approached the sleeping victim around 8:40 p.m. near the Amtrak Rotunda on West 31st Street, close to Seventh Avenue. The men lit the victim’s clothing on fire, then fled into the train station. Emergency responders quickly put out the flames. The victim was taken to Weill Cornell Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries and is listed in stable condition.

Police described the suspects as follows: one was last seen wearing a black jacket and blue jeans, a second was spotted in a brown jacket with gray pants, and a third was seen carrying a backpack.

Amtrak confirmed its police are working alongside the New York City Police Department (NYPD) to investigate the incident but offered no further details.

The investigation remains active. Police are asking anyone with information to come forward as authorities work to identify and locate the suspects.
