Planned Halloween Weekend Terror Attack Busted: FBI

FBI Director Kash Patel announced that a planned terrorist attack set to take place in Michigan on Halloween weekend was thwarted in a post shared on his X account Friday (October 31) morning.

“This morning the FBI thwarted a potential terrorist attack and arrested multiple subjects in Michigan who were allegedly plotting a violent attack over Halloween weekend. More details to come. Thanks to the men and women of FBI and law enforcement everywhere standing guard 24/7 and crushing our mission to defend the homeland,” Patel wrote.

No additional details about the suspects arrests or their alleged plot were revealed as of Friday morning. A federal law enforcement source confirmed that arrests took place in Dearborn and Inkster, both cities located outside of Detroit, via NBC News.

Four senior law enforcement officials with knowledge of the case confirmed that the FBI apprehended a group of young individuals who plotted some sort of attack with a potential reference to Halloween. The sources claimed that the group had some ties to a form of foreign extremism, but wouldn’t specify if it was ISIS, Al Qaeda or any other similar ideology.

Law enforcement officials stressed that there was no current threat to the public following the arrests. Authorities were able to monitor the suspects in the greater Detroit area for the past several days in order to ensure that no attack took place, officials confirmed.
