The investigation into the death of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez has taken a new turn following revelations by private investigator Steve Fischer. On Friday, Fischer appeared on NewsNation’s ‘Banfield’ to disclose previously unseen surveillance footage and evidence gaps in the case. Celeste’s body was discovered on September 8 in the front trunk of a Tesla registered to singer D4vd, whose real name is David Anthony Burke, after the vehicle had been abandoned in the Hollywood Hills for several weeks.
Fischer, hired by the homeowner of the Hollywood Hills property where D4vd once lived, shared that he had obtained surveillance footage showing the last person to drive the Tesla before it was abandoned. Although he has not publicly identified the driver, Fischer mentioned that the individual was wearing distinctive clothing that matched photos from earlier that day. Fischer has provided this footage to the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), which is handling the investigation through its Robbery-Homicide Division.
The investigation has been challenging, with the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office listing Celeste’s cause of death as “deferred.” Fischer’s findings include digital logs and other items that were not initially seized by law enforcement. These items are now being cross-checked against witness statements to piece together the timeline of events.
While D4vd has not been named a suspect, Fischer’s revelations have sparked speculation online. Some internet users have suggested that D4vd’s former friend, known as “Neo,” might have been the last person to drive the Tesla, though neither Fischer nor the LAPD has confirmed this.
As the investigation continues, Fischer has called for additional footage from nearby residences and parking garages to help reconstruct the final hours of Celeste’s life. The LAPD has yet to release any new suspect or charging information.
