Pastor Bill Schonemann, 76, was found dead in his New River, Arizona home on Monday (April 28), with his arms spread out and hands pinned to the wall. The Maricopa County Medical Examiner’s Office has ruled his death a homicide. Authorities suspect foul play but have not disclosed a suspect or motive. The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) is actively investigating the case, citing “specific and unique circumstances” that they are not at liberty to discuss to maintain the integrity of the investigation.
Pastor Schonemann, who led the New River Bible Chapel for about 25 years, was a well-respected figure in the community. His death has left locals shocked and fearful, despite authorities stating there is no ongoing threat to the community. Neighbors and friends described him as a friendly and positive person who had no known conflicts with anyone.
His son, Randall Schonemann, expressed his grief, stating, “Our dad had such a positive impact on people everywhere he went.”
