Passengers Evacuated Onto Tarmac After Plane’ Engine Burst Into Flames

Passengers on a Delta Air Lines flight had to evacuate after an engine fire broke out on a flight at Orlando International Airport on Monday morning (April 21). The Airbus A330, operating as Delta Flight 1213, was preparing to depart for Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport when flames were spotted in the tailpipe of one of its engines.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is investigating the incident. Delta Air Lines confirmed that the flight crew followed emergency procedures to evacuate the 200 passengers, 10 flight attendants, and two pilots using inflatable slides. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported.

Video footage shared on social media showed smoke and flames emanating from the aircraft’s right engine, with passengers exiting the plane and waiting on the tarmac as emergency vehicles responded. The BBC reported that the Aircraft Rescue & Fire Fighting team promptly responded to the situation.

Delta Air Lines expressed gratitude for the passengers’ cooperation and apologized for the incident. The airline assured that safety is their top priority and promised to arrange alternate flights for the affected passengers. Passengers were returned to the terminal, where they were provided with food and drinks while awaiting new travel arrangements.

The FAA’s investigation into the cause of the engine fire is ongoing, and Delta’s maintenance teams are examining the aircraft involved in the incident.
