Pasadena Assisted Living Facility Temporarily Evacuated

PASADENA (CNS) – Approximately 100 people were evacuated after a power outage at an assisted living facility activated a sprinkler and the facility was flooded overnight in Pasadena.

Pasadena Fire Department personnel responded around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday to 235 E. Holly St. Crews found sprinklers activated in 11 units on the three floors of the facility, causing extensive flooding in the building, according to Pasadena Fire Chief Chad Augustin.

The facility’s residents — many who are low income and have physical challenges —  were evacuated. Fox 11 reported several residents were allowed to return early Wednesday morning.

The Salvation Army and the Los Angeles County Emergency Management Department were contacted to assist many of the displaced residents.
