Parents Tracked Son’s Location, Discovered Teacher Was Sexually Abusing Him

A Florida high school math teacher is facing multiple felony charges after investigators say she engaged in a sexual relationship with a student, a case that came to light when the student’s parents tracked his location and discovered he was at an unfamiliar home.

According to the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office, Kirsten Rose, 37, who taught at Cocoa Beach Jr./Sr. High School, was arrested after the parents became suspicious when their son came home late from work one night and refused to explain where he had been. The parents used a location-tracking feature on their son’s phone, which revealed he was at a residence unknown to them. When confronted, the student first claimed he was at a girlfriend’s house but later admitted he was involved with his teacher, authorities say.

Detectives launched an investigation in March 2026. Evidence revealed that Rose and the student began exchanging private messages on Instagram in November 2025. Authorities allege their relationship became sexual in February and continued into March.

Rose was arrested and booked into the Brevard County Jail without bond. She faces five counts of unlawful sexual activity with a minor, as well as charges for lewd and indecent exposure offenses against a student by an authority figure.

Law enforcement officials are asking anyone with additional information to contact the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office Special Victims Unit
