Parents Protest Alleged Mistreatment at Children’s Hospital LA

Parents gathered outside Children’s Hospital Los Angeles on Friday to protest alleged negligence, abuse, and lack of access to medical records. Families claim their children were harmed or died after receiving treatment, including experimental procedures allegedly conducted without consent.

Mercedez Cepedes-Lopez, one of the protesters, told FOX 11 that her 13-year-old son, Snyder, died after receiving four experimental cancer treatments without her permission. Another parent, Christine Bilderain, reported witnessing a sexual assault of a pediatric patient by a nurse, which she claims was ignored by the hospital. Her son, who had an active infection, was allegedly moved to another facility and subsequently died.

Pablo Chacon’s family claims he was placed in a drug-induced coma after an accident and were advised to disconnect life support. His mother, Maureen Obazo, insisted on reducing medications instead, and Pablo eventually woke up, recalling that he could hear everything while in the coma.

Children’s Hospital Los Angeles responded to the allegations, stating that all medical care and clinical trials require legal consent from patients or their guardians. The hospital emphasized its commitment to compassionate, family-centered care and noted that they are engaging with concerned families to address their issues. Due to privacy laws, the hospital cannot discuss individual cases.

The protests have brought attention to the hospital’s practices, with families demanding more transparency and accountability. As reported by Yahoo News, the hospital is a leading pediatric care provider in Los Angeles and has denied the accusations, maintaining that care is conducted in a safe environment.
