Parents Of Missing Seven-Month-Old Arrested, Accused Of Murder

The parents of seven-month-old Emmanuel Haro, who has been missing since August 14, were arrested on Friday (August 22) in Cabazon, California, on suspicion of murder. The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department announced the arrest of Jake and Rebecca Haro, though the infant has not yet been found.

Emmanuel was reported missing after his mother, Rebecca, claimed she was attacked and knocked unconscious outside a store in Yucaipa while changing the baby’s diaper. When she regained consciousness, her son was gone. However, investigators found inconsistencies in her statements, leading to the arrest of both parents on murder charges under California Penal Code 187, which carries a minimum sentence of 25 years if convicted.

Authorities have conducted extensive searches in Yucaipa and Cabazon, serving multiple search warrants and using K9 units, but Emmanuel remains missing. According to the Los Angeles Times, the couple’s home and vehicle were searched, and electronic devices were seized as part of the investigation.

Rebecca Haro initially appeared on local TV with a black eye, pleading for the return of her son. Despite her claims, officials noted inconsistencies in her story, and she ended the interview with investigators.

The couple’s attorney, Vincent Hughes, stated that they are cooperating with the investigation and emphasized that Jake Haro’s past criminal record is unrelated to Emmanuel’s case. Meanwhile, Riverside County child protective services have removed a two-year-old child from the Haro home.

Authorities continue to search for Emmanuel and urge anyone with information to contact Sheriff’s Dispatch at 909-387-3545.
