Parents of Missing Baby Emmanuel Haro Face Court

Jake and Rebecca Haro, the parents of missing seven-month-old Emmanuel Haro, are set to appear in court today at the Riverside Hall of Justice. The couple was arrested on Friday at their home in Cabazon on suspicion of murder with malice after inconsistencies were found in their accounts of the child’s disappearance.

Emmanuel was reported missing on August 14 after Rebecca Haro claimed she was attacked outside a store in Yucaipa and her baby was kidnapped. However, investigators later determined that no kidnapping occurred, leading to the parents’ arrest. The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department has since been conducting extensive searches to locate Emmanuel, who is presumed dead.

The couple faces charges of felony murder, and both are currently held without bail. According to ABC News, the search for Emmanuel included areas along the 60 Freeway in Moreno Valley, but he has not been found. The investigation also revealed the Haros’ involvement in other child abuse cases. Jake Haro has a prior conviction for willful child cruelty from 2023, as reported by USA Today.

The case has drawn significant attention, with community vigils held for the missing child. Sheriff Shannon Dicus expressed confidence in the justice system to hold the parents accountable, stating, “The circumstances surrounding this investigation are tragic.” The authorities continue to seek information from the public regarding Emmanuel’s disappearance.
