The parents of seven-month-old Emmanuel Haro, who was reported kidnapped in Yucaipa, have been arrested as the search for their missing son intensifies. Jake and Rebecca Haro were taken into custody on Friday at their home in Cabazon, Riverside County. The baby has been missing since August 14, when Rebecca Haro claimed she was attacked and knocked unconscious in a parking lot near a Big 5 store in Yucaipa. Upon regaining consciousness, she reported her son was gone.
Authorities have been conducting a law enforcement operation at the Haro family home, but few details about the arrests have been released. The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department confirmed the arrests and stated that inconsistencies in Rebecca Haro’s initial statements have raised suspicions. She reportedly stopped cooperating with investigators after being confronted with these inconsistencies.
According to ABC7, the Sheriff’s Department has not ruled out foul play in Emmanuel’s disappearance. Jake Haro, who has a prior conviction for child cruelty, is currently on probation for a separate incident. His attorney, Vincent Hughes, insists that the couple is cooperating with law enforcement and has provided their electronic devices for investigation.
The family has received death threats, and the community remains divided on the parents’ involvement. A reported sighting of Emmanuel in Bakersfield is being investigated, but no substantial leads have emerged. The Sheriff’s Department continues to search for Emmanuel and urges anyone with information to contact their Specialized Investigations Division at 909-890-4904.
