Former Attorney General Pam Bondi has been diagnosed with thyroid cancer shortly after her departure from the Department of Justice in April. According to a report by Axios, the 60-year-old has been undergoing treatment and is currently in recovery.
Bondi’s health update coincides with her recent appointment by President Donald Trump to the Presidential Council of Advisors on Science and Technology, focusing on artificial intelligence policy. The news of her diagnosis was further confirmed by former White House staffer and podcaster Katie Miller, who posted on X that Bondi has been “quietly kicking cancer’s ass for the last few weeks” and praised her resilience.
Bondi’s departure from the DOJ led to the appointment of Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche as acting attorney general. Meanwhile, Bondi is scheduled to appear before the House Oversight Committee on Friday to discuss her handling of the Jeffrey Epstein files during her tenure.
Despite her diagnosis, Bondi remains committed to her new role on the AI advisory panel, as noted by WBIR. The prognosis for thyroid cancer is generally positive, with a high survival rate, as reported by the Cleveland Clinic.
