Marcelino Arias Arca, a 68-year-old man from Oxnard, California, was sentenced to 480 years to life in prison for molesting two young children over nearly a decade. The sentencing took place on Monday, following his conviction on March 5 for six felony counts of lewd acts upon a child. The Ventura County District Attorney’s Office announced the sentence.
Arca’s criminal history includes a prior conviction for child molestation in 1988, which contributed to his lengthy sentence. According to the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office, Arca abused two children under the age of 14 between 2005 and 2014. The abuse was not reported until years later when both victims came forward to a family member.
Senior Deputy District Attorney Ben Moreno stated, “Decades ago, this defendant went to prison for sexually abusing a child. When given a second chance, he chose not to change — instead, he went on to sexually abuse two more children, this time within his own family.” Moreno commended the victims for their courage in reporting the abuse, which ensured that Arca would not have the opportunity to harm another child.
Arca was arrested in 2022 after the victims reported the abuse.
