SOUTH EL MONTE (CNS) – One person was killed Friday when a Dodge Ram pickup truck went off a road in the Whittier Narrows Recreation Area of South El Monte, overturned and landed upright in a riverbed.
The crash was reported to the California Highway Patrol at 9:10 a.m. Friday near the intersection of Rosemead and San Gabriel boulevards.
The vehicle landed just south of San Gabriel Boulevard on the eastbound side, the CHP reported. One person was confirmed dead at the scene.
Los Angeles County firefighters were working to gain access to the crash site through an access gate to the Whittier Narrows Dam.
