SANTA MONICA (CNS) – An investigation is underway Friday regarding the arrest of a man in connection with the death of a person who was run over near the Santa Monica Pier.
The fatality occurred just before midnight near the 1400 block of the Beach and police responded to an area on the beach near the pier, where the victim was on the sand, underneath a silver Infiniti NBC 4 reported.
Santa Monica Police Sgt. Adam Buus told City News Service a man had been taken into custody at the scene. Video from the scene showed officers placing a man in handcuffs inside a police vehicle.
Buus could not confirm if the victim was a man or a woman and it was not immediately known how the SUV wound up on the sand.
