Numerous Students Hospitalized After Eating Marijuana Gummies At School

On Wednesday (December 3), five students at Stranahan High School in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, were hospitalized after consuming marijuana-infused gummies. The students experienced adverse reactions to the THC-laced candies, prompting Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue to respond to the school. The students were taken to Broward Health Medical Center for treatment as a precautionary measure.

The incident occurred when a student unknowingly consumed the gummies, believing they were regular candy. Tshura Jones, the mother of one of the affected students, expressed her frustration, stating that she trusted the school to keep her daughter safe. Her daughter, who is 14 years old, felt dizzy and disoriented after consuming the gummy and was subsequently hospitalized. Jones is considering pressing charges against the student who distributed the edibles, as reported by WPLG.

The Broward County School District has not yet determined how the gummies ended up at the school and has not commented on the incident due to an ongoing investigation. The district confirmed that several students were affected and that the incident remains under investigation.
