LOS ANGELES (CNS) – Nicolas Cage and his son face a lawsuit Thursday filed by the actor’s former girlfriend, who alleges she was assaulted by their son in 2024 and left with a concussion.
Christina Fulton’s Los Angeles Superior Court lawsuit against the 61- year-old film star and their 34-year-old son, Weston Coppola Cage, also alleges battery and both intentional and negligent infliction of emotional distress. The suit seeks unspecified damages as well as punitive damages against Weston Cage.
A representative for Cage did not immediately reply to a request for comment on the suit brought Tuesday. A representative for Weston Cage said he spoke to Weston and that they hope to have a statement ready for Friday.
According to the suit, Nicolas Cage has long been aware that his son has a lengthy history of mental and psychological problems, including committing violent assault and battery and harming numerous individuals. Instead of initiating corrective action, the actor has taken “numerous affirmative actions to enable Weston and his criminal behavior,” the suit states.
Nicholas Cage has bailed his son out of jail multiple times, despite his repeated violent offenses, as well as provided him with unconditional financial support, according to the suit, which further alleges the actor drinks alcohol with his offspring despite the younger Cage’s substance abuse issues.
Nicholas Cage also did not make sure that his son underwent necessary psychiatric treatment or rehabilitation and as a result, on April 28, 2024, Weston Cage attacked his mother in his building’s parking lot, elevator and lobby, leaving her with, among other things, a concussion, multiple contusions as well as neck and throat injuries.
The incident has also devastated Fulton’s “thriving career as a former model, actress and entrepreneur, according to the suit, which further states that at the time she was filming a Netflix show, attending public appearances and managing her skincare and fitness ventures when the alleged attack “derailed her life.”
Fulton additionally has suffered financial losses and reputational harm, the suit alleges.
