A new poll found that only one Democrat would beat former President Donald Trump in a hypothetical match-up, and it’s not even close. The poll, conducted by Reuters/Ipsos, found that former First Lady Michelle Obama would handily defeat Trump by 11 points, garnering 50% of the vote.
Other hypothetical candidates named in the poll included Vice President Kamala Harris, California Governor Gavin Newsom, Illinois Governor J. B. Pritzker, Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear, and Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer.
Harris was the closest to defeating Trump in a hypothetical match-up, losing by just one percentage point.
The poll showed that President Joe Biden was tied with Trump at 40%.
The poll comes amid concerns over Biden’s candidacy following his subpar performance in the first presidential debate. There have been calls for him to end his campaign and find somebody else to run against Trump in November. So far, Biden has refused to step away and is working to quell the concerns of voters and donors.
