Nearly 150,000 Pounds Of Bologna Recalled Over Undeclared Source Materials

Gaiser’s European Style Provisions Inc. has issued a recall for nearly 150,000 pounds of ready-to-eat bologna due to mislabeling. The recall affects products containing undeclared meat or poultry source materials.

The affected bologna products were produced between March 20 and June 20 and sold under various names and labels. These include “FAMILY TREE BOLOGNA VEAL” with undeclared pork, “BABUSHKA’S RECIPE CHICKEN BOLOGNA” with undeclared pork, and “FANCY BOLOGNA” with undeclared beef and chicken. Additional products include “GAISERS RUSSIAN BRAND DOKTORSKAYA BOLOGNA” with undeclared beef, “GAISERS BOLOGNA VEAL” with undeclared chicken and pork, “GAISERS TURKEY BOLOGNA” with undeclared chicken and pork, and “CHICKEN BOLOGNA KYPOYKA PABA” with undeclared pork.

These items were distributed nationwide from the company’s location in Union, New Jersey, and can be identified by the establishment number “EST. 5385” inside the USDA inspection mark. The USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) discovered the mislabeling after receiving a complaint through a hotline. While no adverse health effects are anticipated, officials advise consumers not to eat the recalled products. Consumers are encouraged to dispose of the products or return them to the place of purchase. Restaurants and institutions should refrain from serving these items.

For further inquiries, consumers can contact the USDA Meat and Poultry Hotline at 888-674-6854.
