Nearly 1 Million Bottles Of Kirkland Prosecco Recalled

Costco has recalled over 940,000 bottles of its Kirkland Signature Valdobbiadene due to a potential “laceration hazard.” The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced the recall on Thursday (November 6), warning that the bottles could break or shatter unexpectedly.

The prosecco, produced by F&F Fine Wines International Inc., also known as Ethica Wines, has been linked to at least 10 incidents of bottles shattering, resulting in one reported injury. The affected bottles bear the Universal Product Code (UPC) 196633883742 and Costco Item Number 1879870. They were sold in a green bottle with purple foil and a purple label featuring the words “Kirkland Signature Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG.”

The bottles were available at Costco locations in several states, including Iowa, Illinois, and Michigan, from April 2025 to August 2025, priced at approximately $8 each.

The CPSC advises consumers to immediately stop using the recalled bottles and not attempt to open them. Customers should discard the bottles and contact Ethica Wines for a full refund. Ethica Wines can be reached at 786-810-7132 or via email at customercare@ethicawines.com.

This recall follows a similar notice issued by Costco in September, highlighting the risk of unopened bottles shattering. The CPSC emphasizes the importance of consumer safety and urges compliance with the recall instructions.
