Five people were rushed to the hospital after getting electrocuted while swimming in their backyard pool. The Logansport Police Department said that officers and firefighters were called to a home around 2:30 p.m. on Sunday (August 25) and found five people had been electrocuted.
Two adults and three children were rushed to the hospital for treatment. Two of the children were taken to different hospitals for further treatment.
A spokesperson for the police department told WXIN that the incident appeared to be a “freak accident” and said there was no sign of criminal intent. An investigation determined that a wire in the pool’s water pump was pinched and caused the protective covering to break. When the exposed wire touched the water, it sent an electrical current through it, which electrocuted everybody swimming in the pool at the time.
While authorities did not provide any information about the condition of the five people, they did say everybody was expected to survive.
