Missing 13-Year-Old Found Dead in Ventura County

The body of Oscar Omar Hernandez, a 13-year-old boy from San Fernando Valley, was found in a wooded area off a road in Ventura County on Wednesday. Hernandez had been reported missing after failing to return from visiting an acquaintance in Lancaster on March 30.

The discovery was made after detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department’s Robbery-Homicide Division, with assistance from the FBI, followed leads to an area densely packed with trees off Harbor Boulevard in Oxnard. According to Yahoo News, the search involved multiple locations across Southern California before the body was found near McGrath State Beach and the Santa Clara River.

LAPD Chief Alan Hamilton stated, “A number of areas that we searched within the region, and I’m saying region loosely as the Southern California area. So, in the search of those locations we came upon this location and we made a determination that there was someone here that closely matched the description of the subject that was reported missing in the city of Los Angeles.”

The investigation into Hernandez’s disappearance and death is ongoing, with the LAPD and FBI working together to identify any person or persons of interest. The details and clues that led investigators to Oxnard have not been disclosed.
