Former First Lady Melania Trump referred her husband, former President Donald Trump, surviving two recent assassination attempts as “miracles” during a rare television interview with FOX & Friends co-host Ashley Earhardt.
“I ran to the TV and I rewind[ed] it and I watched it,” Melania said while discussing her immediate reaction after being notified about the shooting by her chief of staff about the initial shooting at her husband’s rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, on July 13.
“When I saw it … nobody really knew yet [what had happened],” she added. “When you see him on the floor and you don’t know, you don’t know what really happened.”
Melania, 54, said she was in New York City during a second targeted attack on her husband at his West Palm Beach golf course on September 15.
“I saw it on the television,” she said. “And as soon as I saw it on television I called again, and he was OK, because Secret Service were great.”
“The guys that [the former president’s golf group] were between, they were fantastic. And, I think both of the events, they were really miracles,” Melania said.
The former first lady also addressed the August 2022 FBI raid at the couple’s Mar-a-Lago home as part of a probe into the former president’s alleged withholding of classified White House documents.
“Yeah, it made me angry,” Melania said, referring to the search as an “invasion of privacy.”
“The way it was done, was, I was really surprised,” she added.
The FOX & Friends interview was Melania’s first television interview in more than two years. The former first lady appeared alongside her husband when he accepted the presidential nomination during the Republican National Convention in July.
