McDonald’s is selling Egg McMuffins for just $1 on Monday (March 2) in celebration of National Egg McMuffin Day, USA TODAY reports.
The global fast food chain will offer $1 Egg McMuffins and $1 Sausage McMuffins with Egg for a special limited price when ordered through the McDonald’s mobile app. The Egg McMuffin breakfast sandwich, which includes an egg, Canadian bacon, American cheese and butter on a toasted English muffin, has been one of the restaurant’s signature items since being added to its menu in 1971.
The Sausage McMuffin varies from the Egg McMuffin as the egg is optional and sausage replaces Canadian bacon. McDonald’s customers can redeem their $1 Egg McMuffin or Sausage McMuffin with Egg by placing an order through the McDonald’s app all day on Monday.
National Egg McMuffin Day will take place one day before McDonald’s launches its Big Arch burger, which it has called its “biggest and boldest burger yet.” The new burger includes two quarter-pound beef patties, three slices of melted white cheddar cheese, lettuce, pickles, onions and Big Arch Sauce, which McDonald’s described as “a tangy, creamy sauce with a perfect balance of mustard, pickle and sweet tomato flavors,” all served on a toasted sesame and poppy-seed bun.
“We began to pilot Big Arch about a year and a half ago, and it’s shown strong traction across several markets,” said Jill McDonald, McDonald’s global chief restaurant experience officer, during the company’s fourth quarter earnings call via USA TODAY. “Customers are responding to this more satisfying burger that meets demand for something heartier while still feeling distinctly McDonald’s. Its performance helped it earn a permanent spot on the U.K. menu, and we see potential to continue scaling this platform as we strengthen our position within this tier of the beef category.
