A multi-agency manhunt continues across South Georgia for two murder suspects who escaped from the Sumter County Jail on Sunday night (February 8) around 9:30 p.m.
Authorities are searching for 20-year-old Rickey Martin and 21-year-old Kentravious Holmes, both facing multiple serious charges including murder, aggravated assault, and aggravated battery, according to the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.
Sumter County Sheriff Eric Bryant emphasized the dangerous nature of the escapees.
“Most definitely be looking for both of these individuals—anybody that fit that description—contact law enforcement immediately that they are dangerous. They were in jail here on very serious charges,” Bryant said.
He also warned that anyone found assisting the fugitives would face charges.
Martin is one of three suspects charged in a February 2025 shooting that killed two people, including 5-year-old Peyton Roberts. Holmes is wanted in connection with the April 2025 murder of Amon Harvey in Americus.
Martin is described as a Black male, 5’4″ tall, weighing 120 pounds, with untwisted dreadlocks. Holmes is a Black male, 5’8″ tall, weighing 155 pounds, with untwisted dreadlocks and multiple tattoos on his face and neck, including a dollar sign, a broken heart, and “Baby Kay” above his right eye.
The search effort involves multiple agencies across several counties, with helicopters scanning the area. Authorities are investigating whether the inmates received outside help in their escape.
The Sumter County Sheriff’s Office urges anyone with information about Martin and Holmes to call 911 or contact them directly at 229-924-4094. Tipsters can remain anonymous.
