X and Letterboxd were among the parts of the internet reported to be facing mass outages amid a major Cloudflare issue Tuesday (November 18) morning.
Visitors to numerous parts of the internet, including X and Letterboxd, faced an “internal server error on Cloudflare’s network” message and were advised to “please try again in a few minutes.” Cloudflare confirmed that it was aware of and investigating the issue in a status update.
“Cloudflare is aware of, and investigating an issue which impacts multiple customers: Widespread 500 errors, Cloudflare Dashboard and API also failing,” the company said. “We are working to understand the full impact and mitigate this problem. More updates to follow shortly.”
Downdetector, a website that tracks widespread internet outages, said it received more than 11,000 reports of X outages as of 6:40 a.m. ET with an estimated 61% of problems dealing with app usage, 27% dealing with the website and 12% dealing with server connection.
X, formerly known as Twitter, was reported to be experiencing widespread outages on July 2.
“Yes, we are detecting problems with X (Twitter) that began 21 minutes ago,” the website stated at the time.
X had also previously experienced widespread outages on March 10, with thousands of users reporting issues.
