Man Who Built Home Inside Bridge Arrested After Police Make Disturbing Find

A 61-year-old man named Roger Gosson was arrested for murder after police discovered a body in the Schuylkill River near Philadelphia. Gosson, who was living in an elaborate setup inside the Green Lane Bridge, is accused of killing Joshua Daywalt, a 35-year-old man who struggled with mental illness and was homeless at the time of his death.

Police found Gosson’s living quarters inside the bridge, which included multiple levels, an electrical hookup to a battery, and a fully furnished tent. During their search, they also discovered a gun believed to be used in Daywalt’s murder. Daywalt’s body was found in February, and a medical examiner ruled his death a homicide, noting a gunshot wound to the back of the head.

Gosson, a former contractor, reportedly lost his business and ended up living on the streets. Joe Antonini, who knows Gosson, told WPVI that he was a local man who fell on hard times. Daywalt’s family said he was a kind and intelligent person before mental illness took over. His mother, Jennifer Daywalt, expressed hope that justice will be served.

The investigation revealed that Daywalt was last seen alive under the Green Lane Bridge, where Gosson had been living. Philadelphia police continue to investigate the case, and no other arrests have been made in connection with Daywalt’s death. Jennifer Daywalt told Action News that she hopes these developments will lead to justice for her son.
