Man Sought for Rock Attack on CBP Vehicles in Paramount

Authorities have identified Elpidio Reyna, a 40-year-old from Compton, as the suspect in an attack on Border Patrol vehicles in Paramount. During the incident on Saturday, rocks were allegedly thrown at the vehicles, injuring an agent. U.S. Attorney Bill Essayli emphasized the seriousness of the attack, stating, “He thinks he’s untouchable…we will find him.” The FBI has announced a $50,000 reward for information leading to Reyna’s arrest.

The attack occurred amid large-scale protests against U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operations in Los Angeles. During these protests, agitators reportedly threw glass bottles and cement chunks at authorities, prompting a response with tear gas and rubber bullets. Chief Gregory Bovino of Border Patrol’s El Centro sector stated, “As our agents were leaving the area, rocks were thrown, severely injuring one of our agents.”

The FBI utilized social media videos and news reports to identify Reyna as the suspect. Reyna is considered a fugitive, and authorities have deemed him armed and dangerous. He faces charges of assaulting a federal officer, which could result in up to eight years in prison if convicted.

The protests, which began on Friday, saw numerous arrests across Los Angeles County. According to the Financial Express, the demonstrations followed ICE raids that resulted in hundreds of detentions. U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi warned that authorities are actively pursuing those involved in assaults on federal officers.
