One of the spectators who was shot during the assassination attempt of Donald Trump during a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, was released from the hospital on Wednesday (July 24) afternoon.
David Dutch, 57, was shot in the chest and the liver and had to be placed in a medically induced coma following the July 13th rally.
The second man who was injured in the shooting, James Copenhaver, 74, is still in the hospital, where he is listed in serious but stable condition.
“Jim would like to especially thank the first responders, medics, and hospital staff who have provided him with initial and continuing care,” his family said in a statement last week. “Additionally, Jim would like to express his thoughts and prayers for the other victims, their families, and President Trump. He prays for a safe and speedy recovery for them all.”
Firefighter Corey Comperatore was killed during the rally as he shielded his family from the gunfire.
