An Arkansas man pleaded guilty to murder charges for killing his girlfriend’s five-year-old son, Blu Rolland. The Arkansas Department of Public Safety said that 34-year-old Nathan Bridges was sentenced to 60 years in prison for the brutal crime.
Bridges confessed to the killing, telling police that the young boy bit his finger, so he drowned him in the toilet. He then buried Blu’s body underneath the floorboards in his house.
Blu’s grandparents became concerned and called the police, asking them to perform a welfare check on Blu and his six-year-old sister. When police searched the home, they could not find Blu but did find evidence that the girl had been abused and took her into protective custody.
Acting on a tip from the Blu’s grandfather, police found his body underneath the floorboards. The body was discovered on what would have been Blu’s sixth birthday.
Blu’s mother, Ashley Rolland, 30, was also arrested and is facing numerous charges, including capital murder, permitting child abuse, abuse of a corpse, tampering with physical evidence, endangering the welfare of a minor, and battery. She is still awaiting trial in Lee County.
