Man Killed By Family Member’s Shotgun Booby Trap

A tragic incident unfolded in Saint Matthews, South Carolina, when 34-year-old Jordan Dove was fatally shot by a booby trap set in a family member’s home. According to the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office, Dove was checking on the vacant property on Monday (February 24) when he was struck by a shotgun blast. Emergency personnel transported him to a nearby hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

The shotgun was rigged at the back door of the home, designed to discharge upon entry. Deputies cautiously entered the residence, suspecting it was booby-trapped, and discovered the front door barricaded shut. Sheriff Thomas Summers stated that the trap appeared to target law enforcement, highlighting the daily dangers officers face.

The home belongs to Alfonzo Brown, Dove’s uncle, who is currently incarcerated and facing numerous charges, including attempted murder. Brown is accused of attempting to kill another nephew and two others. Authorities believe Brown set the trap knowing he would be pursued by law enforcement.

The sheriff’s office confirmed that there is no ongoing threat to the public, and charges against Brown are forthcoming. Brown is being held without bail in Maryland and is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on March 7.
