Man Charged with Armed Robbery in Fountain Valley

FOUNTAIN VALLEY (CNS) – A 21-year-old Carson man was behind bars today on charges of armed robbery in Fountain Valley.  

Salagi Iakopo pleaded not guilty Monday to a felony count of second- degree robbery with a sentencing enhancement for being armed with an assault weapon or machine gun, according to court records. Another suspect, 20-year-old Tehuiarii Matautia, was released when prosecutors did not file charges, according to jail records.  

Iakopo, who was being held without bail, was ordered to return to court for a pretrial hearing in the West Justice Center in Westminster. 

Police responded to the robbery Dec. 22 in the 18000 block of Brookhurst Street, police said. A victim told police he was robbed of several high-end wrist watches at gunpoint, police said.
