Man Charged After Threatening To Blow Trump’s Brains Out

A California man was charged in relation to online threats in which he claimed he wanted to “blow [President Donald Trump‘s] brains out,” according to a Department of Justice release shared on Tuesday (June 3).

Thomas Eugene Streavel, 73, of Yucca Valley, was charged with three counts of making threats against the president-elect, which could result in a sentence of five years for each count if convicted. Streavel was arrested on Monday (June 2) after a probe into incidents in which he “knowingly and willfully threatened to kill and inflict bodily harm on Donald Trump, who then was the President-elect of the United States,” the news release states.

Streavel posted on his Facebook that Trump “is a dead man walking for the time being until a patriot like myself blows his [expletive] brains out in the very near future,” on November 6, one day after the president’s 2024 election victory and that he was “willing to make America great again and blow his [expletive] brains out” on November 12.

The posts continued later that month with Streavel writing, “Let me put a bullet right between the ears of your president-elect,” which he said had become his “purpose for living,” on November 19 and that he was “praying for a successful assassination of your president elect” in a post shared on November 28.

“My life’s mission is killing the worthless LOSER [expletive] and my mission starts tonight so watch yourself trump, you are a dead [expletive] and I am your assassin,” Streavel wrote that same day.

Streavel pleaded not guilty to all charges during his arraignment on Tuesday and was released on a $10,000 bond ahead of his July 28 trial. Trump was previously targeted in two assassination attempts during his 2024 campaign, which included gunshots being fired by Thomas Matthew Crooks, who was killed seconds later, during his Butler, Pennsylvania, rally last July and later being targeted by Ryan Wesley Routh, who was arrested near the president’s private golf course in Florida last September.
