Man Arrested for Towing Government Vehicle During Raid

Federal agents have arrested 33-year-old Bobby Nunez in downtown Los Angeles for allegedly towing a government SUV during an immigration raid targeting influencer Tatiana Martinez in August. The U.S. Department of Justice released a video showing Nunez towing the vehicle, which belonged to an immigration agent, during the operation. Martinez was reportedly livestreaming the raid to thousands on TikTok when she was pulled from her car and arrested.

According to the U.S. Department of Justice, Nunez faces charges of theft of government property and could face up to 10 years in federal prison. Acting U.S. Attorney for Los Angeles, Bilal “Bill” Essayli, commented on the incident, stating, “Apparently he thought it would be funny to interfere with our immigration enforcement operations. Now he can laugh behind bars while he faces justice.”

The raid involved blocking Martinez’s vehicle with government cars, which had their emergency lights on. During the arrest, Nunez allegedly pressed the passenger side door of Martinez’s vehicle on an officer. After a confrontation, he reportedly towed one of the government vehicles away, which contained keys and a firearm locked in a safe.

Martinez’s attorney, Carlos Jurado, claims she was targeted for filming Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) activities. He argues that although she has a DUI conviction, she is in the country legally, having been processed and given a work permit upon arrival from Colombia three years ago.
