SANTA ANA (CNS) – A 27-year-old man was arrested tonight for allegedly stabbing two people, one of them fatally, in Santa Ana. Â
Santa Ana Police Department officers were called about 8:20 p.m. Thursday to the South Coast Global Medical Center after the hospital received the two victims, who were both suffering from stab wounds, according to a department statement. Â
Jose Merlan, 27, was pronounced dead at the hospital, while the other victim was treated for their wounds. Â
SAPD detectives determined the stabbing occurred Thursday at Centennial Skatepark, located in the 1700 block of Fairview Street, and reviewed surveillance video from the location. Â
The footage shows the suspect, Nicholas Nunez of Santa Ana, allegedly getting into an altercation with the two victims, which escalated to the stabbing. Â
Detectives said the altercation and stabbing stemmed from “an ongoing dispute” between Nunez and the victims. Â
Nunez was taken into custody about 7:10 p.m. Friday and was booked for murder and attempted murder, police said.
