Malcolm-Jamal Warner, 54, Dies by Drowning

Malcolm-Jamal Warner, known for his role as Theodore Huxtable on ‘The Cosby Show,’ has died at the age of 54.

According to TMZ and People Magazine, Warner passed away after drowning while on a family vacation in Costa Rica.

A representative with the Costa Rican National Police told ABC News that Warner drowned off the coast near Cocles, a beach in Limon, when he got caught in a high current, and the official cause of death is listed as asphyxia.

He became a household name in the 1980s with his Emmy-nominated performance on ‘The Cosby Show.’ He was just 14 when the show premiered, and he remined on the show until it wrapped in 1992. Warner continued to make his mark in entertainment with roles on ‘A Different World,’ ‘Malcolm & Eddie’ and as a voice actor on ‘The Magic School Bus.’

In 2015, he won a Grammy, showcasing his musical talents.

Recently, Warner hosted the podcast ‘Not All Hood,’ with his latest episode released just three days before his passing. He leaves behind a wife and daughter, whose names he chose to keep private.
