Major US Airline Grounds All Flights Due To IT Outage

Alaska Airlines grounded all flights nationwide on Thursday (October 23) due to an IT outage affecting operations. The airline requested a ground stop from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) as it works to resolve the issue. In a statement, Alaska Airlines apologized for the inconvenience and advised passengers scheduled to fly to check their flight status before heading to the airport.

The airline has not provided a timeline for when operations might resume. The disruption comes amid other operational challenges for Alaska Air Group, including higher fuel costs and adverse weather conditions, which have affected its profit margins in 2025.

“We apologize for the inconvenience. If you’re scheduled to fly tonight, please check your flight status before heading to the airport,” the airline said in a statement.
