Little Change To Average LA, Orange County Gas Prices

LOS ANGELES (CNS) – The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County rose two-tenths of a cent Wednesday to $6.007, its highest amount since Oct. 7, 2023.

The average price has increased 41 of the last 42 days, increasing $1.388, including 1.1 cents on Tuesday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It rose 10 consecutive days, was unchanged March 1 and resumed rising the following day.

The average price is 6.3 cents more than one week ago, $1.313i higher than one month ago and $1.14 greater than one year ago. It is 48.7 cents less than the record $6.494 set on Oct. 5, 2022.

The Orange County average price rose two-tenths of a cent to $5.94, its highest amount since Oct. 6, 2023, increasing seven-tenths of a cent to $5.938. It has risen 62 of the past 63 days, increasing $1.697, including seven- tenths of a cent on Tuesday.

The Orange County average price rose 57 consecutive days, dropped four- tenths of a cent on Friday and resumed rising the following day. It is 4.7 cents more than one week ago, $1.294 higher than one month ago and $1.096 greater than one year ago.

The Orange County average price is 51.9 cents less than the record $6.459 on Oct. 5, 2022.

The national average price rose to its highest amount since Aug. 7, 2022, increasing 4.6 cents to $4.064, one day after rising 2.8 cents to top $4 for the first time since Aug. 10, 2022. It is 8.1 cents more than one week ago, $1.08 higher than one month ago and 86.3 cents greater than one year ago.

The national average price is 95.2 cents less than the record $5.016 set on June 14, 2022.

“Gas prices could indeed fall, but are highly unlikely to go back to their pre-war levels for months, in part due to the amount of time needed for global inventories to build back, and in part due to seasonality — rising demand, refinery turnarounds and summer gasoline,” Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, which provides real-time gas price information from more than 150,000 stations, wrote on social media Tuesday.
