Liquid Eggs Recalled Due To Possible Cleaning Solution Contamination

Over 212,000 pounds of liquid egg products have been recalled due to potential contamination with a cleaning solution. On Friday (March 28), the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced that Cargill Kitchen Solutions is recalling these products, which may contain sodium hypochlorite, a key ingredient in bleach. The recall affects Egg Beaters and Bob Evans liquid egg substitutes.

The liquid eggs were produced on March 12 and 13, 2025, and have “use by” dates of August 9 and 10, 2025, and March 7, 2026. The recalled products bear the establishment number “G1804” and were shipped to distributors in Ohio and Texas for foodservice use in several states, including Arizona, California, and Florida. However, they may have been distributed nationwide.

The FSIS initiated the recall after receiving a tip about potential contamination. After an investigation, FSIS scientists determined that the risk of adverse health effects is negligible, leading to a Class III recall. According to ABC News, no illnesses or injuries have been reported. Cargill issued the recall out of caution, advising consumers to discard or return the products.

Consumers with questions can contact Cargill Kitchen Solutions at 1-844-419-1574 or visit the FSIS website for more information. The FSIS also encourages consumers to report any problems with meat, poultry, or egg products through their online complaint system.
