Light to Moderate Rain in Forecast for LA Area

LOS ANGELES (CNS) – Rain is in the Southland’s forecast for the first time in more than a month, with a weak storm rolling into the area that’s expected to bring light to moderate precipitation Tuesday evening and into early Wednesday.

“A cold front will drag across the area tonight,” said the National Weather Service. “Light to moderate rain will overspread the area tonight and continue through Wednesday morning. The rain will be accompanied by gusty southerly winds. The rest of Wednesday and Thursday will be partly cloudy with max temps a few degrees under normal.”

Forecasters called the approaching system “a very routine storm with rain amounts under an inch in most areas, and most of it occurring overnight Tuesday night with just some lingering showers into Wednesday morning.”

It would mark the first rain in downtown Los Angeles since Jan. 4, when three-tenths of an inch was recorded, according to weather-service data.

Cloudy conditions are expected Wednesday night through Thursday, followed by sun Friday and then more clouds and a chance of rain starting Sunday morning.

Temperatures will also dip to more wintry numbers during the middle of the week, followed by a gradual warming trend, the weather service said. Daytime highs are expected to linger in the 60s throughout the week in most of the Southland.
